CFFN Interview Series

Dr. Pramod Dhakal

Dr. Pramod Dhakal a co-founder and the executive director for Canada Foundation for Nepal. He's also the International Affairs Coordinator of NRN-Canada, a Senior Scientist at EION Inc. and a Research Associate at Carleton University, Canada. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from IIT-Roorkee, India, M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. He carries varied experience from the industry and academia through his successfully executed roles as a teacher, developer, analyst, architect, consultant, department head, and a manager mostly in teaching, software, telecommunication systems, and engineering research. In these roles, he has carried out exclusive research and development endeavors for organizations known to lead the world in the field of research and innovation.

His research interests have shifted to application of telecommunication technology for the economic transformation of developing countries. Also expanded are his social horizons - expressed in his well received writings on socio-economic issues that appear in the news media on a regular basis, and his increasing interests in cognition, thoughts, and philosophical domains. Currently he has embarked Project Usha dedicated to producing educational content in view of bringing the light of education among rural children in Nepal.

Michael and Tineke Casey

Tineke and Michael Casey are the instrumental figures behind the establishment Early Childhood Education Centre in the Madi village in Baglung District, Nepal. They themselves traveled to the village and inspired village women and men to this great endeavor. Besides this they are embarking a number of other projects in a view of taking the light of education and dignified livelihood in the target areas of CFFN projects. The husband anf wife couple have been visiting Nepal frequently for more than a decade and keep close affinity with Nepal.

Mr. Casey was a senior executive in the Government of Canada responsible for marine charting of Canadian waters. He obtained B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Mathematics from McMaster University, Canada. After joining the Government of Canada, he specialized in the application of the survey and mapping technology. He now is Vice President (Spatial Analysis) at IIC International, a survey and mapping company with offices throughout the world.

Mrs. Casey began her career in early childhood development in her home country of the Netherlands before moving westward to Canada. She retired in 2009, but continues to share her knowledge and passion in the early childhood development field on a volunteer basis.

Dr. Ramesh Sunar Dr. Ramesh Kumar Sunar earned a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Connecticut in 1998, and specialized in endodontic surgery from New York University College of Dentistry in 2001. He moved to Nort Carolina in 2002 to serve Charlotte community in endodontic surgery. A person of exemplary academic records, Dr. Sunar quickly emerged as a successful entrepreneur. He has a number of business endeavors to his credit. The most notable of those businesses are his Institute for Dental Learning and Charlotte Root Canal Center both in Charlotte, North Carolina. The most inspiring part of his journey is that he withered much social discrimination brought by his Dalit last name and emerged as a person of confidence and hope. In a short span of time, he has emerged as an inspiration to all youth who seek success despite their humble upbringings. Not only has he used adversities to his advantage, he has also remained true to the ideals of human freedom and equality. He devotes substantial amount of time in search of avenues to uplift the oppressed communities of Nepal.
